Taiwan Tourism Deepens Canadian Travel Trade Engagement Through Year-Round Workshop Series

Canada NewsWire

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 17, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) has continued to strengthen its engagement with Canada's travel trade through a series of educational workshops over the past year, giving travel advisors practical tools, destination knowledge and the latest offers to help them confidently recommend and sell Taiwan to Canadian travellers.

Attendees of the workshop held at the Taiwan Tourism Information Centre in Vancouver in September 2026

Delivered through the Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) in Vancouver and national travel trade partnerships, the four-part program has explored different opportunities for selling Taiwan, from Chinese-speaking and family travellers to outdoor adventure and the growing premium travel market.

The series began in November 2025 with a workshop at TTIC Vancouver focused on selling Taiwan to Chinese-speaking travellers. Held on November 19, the workshop brought together approximately 28 participants, including travel advisors and representatives from EVA Air and China Airlines. The program combined updates on Taiwan's latest tourism products and airline developments with practical insights for travel professionals serving Chinese-speaking clients, followed by Q&A and networking.

TTA expanded the program nationally with its second workshop, "Adventures Await in Taiwan," an online webinar presented in partnership with Baxter Media. The session introduced Canadian travel professionals to Taiwan as an adventure destination, highlighting the island's diverse outdoor experiences alongside the latest TTA travel offers. The live webinar attracted 89 participants and subsequently received another 196 online streams, extending its educational reach beyond the original session.

In June, attention turned to one of the Canadian market's most important travel segments with a "Family & Kid-Friendly Taiwan" session at TTIC Vancouver. Twenty travel trade attendees joined the in-person workshop. The session provided travel advisors with destination and product information specifically relevant to families and travellers with children, complemented by tourism and airline updates, networking and an interactive Q&A.

The fourth workshop in the series, held at TTIC Vancouver on September 16, shifted the conversation toward "Luxury & Premium Experiences in Taiwan." The session demonstrated how travel advisors can position Taiwan for affluent couples, honeymooners, culinary travellers, wellness and slow-travel clients, culture and design enthusiasts, and multi-generational families seeking greater comfort and convenience.

Rather than defining luxury solely through five-star hotels, the workshop presented Taiwan as a destination for understated luxury, combining authenticity, accessibility and exceptional service. Advisors explored distinctive accommodations and hot spring resorts, Michelin-recognized dining and private culinary experiences, high-mountain tea and Taiwanese whisky, artisan and cultural experiences, wellness retreats, private touring and premium ways to experience Taiwan's mountains, lakes and coastline.

The workshop also provided advisors with updates on current Taiwan Tourism offers that can add value to a client's trip. These include the new "Return to Taiwan, Double Your Luck" campaign, where eligible foreign visitors returning to Taiwan have the chance to win NT$5,000 vouchers and an additional NT$3,000 for a companion. For the MICE market, Taiwan's 2026 Travel Rewards currently provide eligible travellers with two exclusive benefits, including a complimentary Taiwan Tour Bus half-day or full-day tour and a free 3-Day HSR pass powered by the Taiwan PASS app.

"Canadian travel advisors play an essential role in helping travellers discover destinations beyond the places they already know, which is why ongoing engagement with the travel trade is such an important part of our work in Western Canada," said Sylvia Lee, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration's San Francisco Office. "Through these workshops, we want to give advisors both the inspiration and the practical tools to build Taiwan into their clients' travel plans. Taiwan offers exceptional experiences across every price point, and current programs such as 'Return to Taiwan, Double Your Luck' and special travel rewards for MICE visitors make it even easier to create itineraries that offer both convenience and outstanding value."

Together, the four workshops reflect TTA's broader commitment to working directly with Canada's travel industry, helping advisors develop their knowledge of Taiwan while identifying new products, audiences and itineraries that can turn interest in the destination into bookings. From adventure and family travel to cultural discovery and premium experiences, the program highlights the breadth of experiences available across Taiwan and the ease with which they can be combined into a single trip.
